Comments and concerns regarding the CTC Property LLC - Colossus Data Center construction permit.
CTC Property LLC has applied to the Shelby County Health Department, Pollution Control Section for an air construction permit for the existing Colossus Data Center (Center) located at 3231 Paul R Lowry Road, Memphis, Tennessee. The Center is subject to the provisions of City of Memphis Code Section 16-77 [Reference Rules and Regulations of Tennessee, Rule 1200- 3-9-.02]. The Center operates fifteen (15) natural gas fired Solar SMT-130 turbine generators, each rated at 16.48 megawatts (MW), providing a total of 300 MW of continuous power. This includes a 150 MW capacity supplied by Memphis Light, Gas, and Water (MLGW), which helps meet the energy demands of information technology hardware and supporting infrastructure. The facility requests the following emission limits for turbine operations: • 72.95 tons of particulate matter (PM/PM10), • 29.58 tons of sulfur dioxide (SO2), • 93.96 tons of carbon monoxide (CO), • 87.14 tons of nitrogen oxides (NOx), • 84.82 tons of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and • 13.71 tons of hazardous air pollutants (HAPs)
